A former governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Hon. Bamidele Faparusi, has said the return of President Muhammadu Buhai to Nigeria will shut the mouths of those who gave Igbos ultimatum to leave the North.
In a statement in Ado Ekiti on Monday, Faparusi hinted that the swift anti-hate speech made by the President in his address to the nation, was meant to stabilize the nation and convey a strong message that Nigerians’ rights cannot be abridged on the basis of living outside one’s ethnic groups.
“President Buhari’s return will strengthen the unity of our countrybecause he remains the symbol.
“I was particularly happy not onlybecause those wishing him dead had been shamed but for the fact that the agitators and hate speech makers will be silenced permanently”, he said.
On Ekiti 2018 poll, Faparusi called on APC National Chairman, John Odigie Oyegun, to direct the aspirants to stop attacking each other, describing the scenario as a great impediment that may spell doom for the party in the impending election.
“The experiences here in Ekiti APC are worrisome. Though, I am not too naive to understand that politics and electoral contest is about scheming, but that should not degenerate to the level where party members will be poise to damage the reputations of others within the same party.
“There were cases, where aspirant or his known supporters would put on a known APC’s social media platform that certain aspirant has withdrawn when such has not happened.
“Except that our leaders are only playing ostrich, these dangeroustantrums and games have brewed so much ill-feelings and acrimony among our members.
