Apparently, aso-ebi trend started with the Yorubas,
that's because they look for any reason to just throw a party and look
all glammed up for the event. I really don't know if it's a show of
their financial state. I mean to throw a party isn't a small deal
especially when it doesn't involve crowd control or anything of such.
Maybe it's just something that comes naturally, a reason to just groove.
So,
there is this Yoruba saying, "O ti gbe ise ile de ita". This actually
refers to when someone takes a habit or culture of the home outside the
home.
So,
there's this picture of two students who recently graduated from the
university in the United states and well, yeah every parent and family
member is always happy for the success of one member of the family.
Anyway, these students' parents and entire family did not only throw a
party for them, they went ahead to buy aso-ebi and of course, took it
over there. Ahh!
Truth
is, we've always known aso-ebi for wedding and burial ceremonies, not
for graduation parties. So, it's totally surprising to see such for a
graduation party. Not bad anyway.
